The Day, In Order

The TGV from Gare Montparnasse puts you in Tours in about an hour, and your guide is waiting at the tourist office two minutes from the platform. The minivan goes first to Chenonceau, the castle built out over the River Cher on the site of a medieval mill — shaped across five centuries by the remarkable women who owned it, and the most graceful building in France by steady popular vote.

Lunch is the part our guests talk about afterward: the privately owned Château de Villesavin, a tranquil family estate built by Jean le Breton, where you tour the authentic rooms and grounds and then sit down to a proper lunch paired with local Loire wines — often hosted by the resident countess herself. It feels less like a tour stop and more like being someone’s guest for the afternoon.

Chambord fills the afternoon: 440 rooms built as François I’s hunting statement, officially credited to architect Phillipe Delorme, with a double-helix staircase many believe carries Leonardo da Vinci’s influence. It’s the valley’s grandest interior and its best rooftop — give the terraces their moment before the drive back.

At day’s end the van drops you at the Tours station for the one-hour TGV home — back in Paris in time for a late dinner.

How long is the train ride to the Loire Valley?

Under one hour from Paris Montparnasse to Tours by high-speed TGV. Local trains are significantly slower, and Sunday schedules can run longer — another reason we handle the tickets.

Is lunch really included?

Yes — a sit-down lunch with Loire wines at Château de Villesavin is part of the standard tour. On select dates an extensive wine-tasting format runs instead, with lunch available to buy; we make the format clear when you book.

Can we visit other châteaux instead?
